What it is
Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) means breathing concentrated oxygen while you rest inside a chamber pressurized above normal air pressure. The extra pressure lets your lungs take in more oxygen, and more of it dissolves into your blood, which carries it throughout your body.
How it can help
- Supports your body's natural healing processes
- Supports recovery after exercise, activity or strain
- Supports healthy circulation
- May support energy and an overall sense of well-being
What to expect
You'll sit or lie comfortably in the chamber and simply rest. As the pressure changes you'll feel fullness in your ears, a lot like flying in an airplane, and swallowing or yawning helps it pass. Sessions typically last about an hour.
Good to know
In hospitals, hyperbaric oxygen is used under a physician's care to treat a specific list of medical conditions. It is not a replacement for medical treatment.
Tell us before your first session if you have a lung condition, a recent ear or sinus problem or surgery, are pregnant, experience claustrophobia, or take any medications, so we can make sure HBOT is right for you.
